The Prime Minister of India , Shri Narendra Modi, saturday evening (07.10.2017) dedicated IIT Gandhinagar (Gujarat) campus
to the nation.

More than two years after students
and faculty members at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn)
shifted to the campus in Palaj, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will dedicate the
campus to the nation. The PM will visit the campus on Saturday during his
two-day visit to the State. IIT-Gn was set up in 2008 and functioned
temporarily on Vishwakarma Government Engineering College campus in Chandkheda.
In July 2015, it
shifted to the 400-acre Palaj campus which has already hosted three convocations.
Till now, the norm for IITs has been to lay the foundation stone then
officially inaugurate the institute after completion. Not all are dedicated to
the nation. IIT-Gn Director Sudhir Jain, however, said, “The talk of PM
inaugurating the campus has been going on for a long time.
