The Upcoming GAIL to set up City Gas Distribution CGD network in Patna and Gaya


Gas Authority of India (GAIL) is planning to set up City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Patna and Gaya during the first phase of its Rs 10,000 crore Haldia - Jagdishpur ‘energy highway’ gas pipeline project.
Moreover, the company will give priority to Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur among other cities for the CGD network and the pipeline was expected to benefit around 40 per cent population of the state. Apart from households and transport facilities, gas will also be supplied to fertiliser, electricity, steel and other big, medium and small industries.
Recently, the company announced that it is planning to construct a natural gas pipeline between Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh and Haldia in West Bengal with an estimated investment of Rs 10,000 crore. The 2050-km pipeline is expected to be ready in two years which will pave the way for setting up of CNG/pipe gas networks in 17 major cities of eastern India, including Allhabad, Varanasi, Patna, Ranchi, Kolkata, Dhanbad,Bokaro,Jamshedpur.
GAIL is India’s flagship natural gas company integrating all aspects of the natural gas value chain including exploration and production, processing, transmission, distribution and marketing and related services.
Dharmendra Pradhan launches city gas distribution project for Cuttack, Bhubaneshwar 
The Ministry of petroleum and natural gas ministry launched a Rs 5700 crore piped cooking gas project that is to benefit five lakh households in the twin cities of Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha. 

State owned Gas Authority of India LtdBSE 0.98 % (GAIL) will invest Rs 1,750 crore (a Rs 1,000 crore in Bhubaneshwar and Rs 750 crore in Cuttack) to provide piped cooking gas these households under five years. It will also set up 44 CNG stations for automobiles, said union minister for His ministry, Pradhan pointed out, has already committed to investments of Rs 1.25 lakh crore in the state. The grand launch, preceded by a multi media blitzkrieg and followed by a music concert and hockey match, was widely viewed as the party’s move to woo urban voters before the municipal corporation elections next year. 

CCEA approves city gas distribution in Kolkata 

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), has approved development of city gas distribution (CGD) networks in Kolkata as well as cities lying en-route Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra gas pipeline. Varanasi, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Cuttack will also get city gas distribution. 

City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks in cities are to be developed by GAILBSE -0.53 % in collaboration with the concerned state governments. It will bring clean cooking fuel at the door steps of domestic households as well as provide clean fuel to transport sector in the eastern region.
